of radioautographic techniques (Logan, Ficq & Errera, 1959). This permits the study of incorporation experiments in individual nuclei but does not give any information about the quantitative chemical changes in the nuclei. It is of interest to know whether there are any common biochemical changes in the nuclei as a result of feeding the two carcinogens. However, the two types of nuclear preparations behaved differently in the incorporation of labelled precursors into nucleic acids and proteins, even though both groups of nuclei, however, showed increases in their protein, nucleic acid and phospholipid content. Thus, although a reasonable correlation is obtained between the biochemical and histological changes in the two groups, there is so far little evidence of any common pattern in the nuclear changes. It is therefore necessary to study more hepatocarcinogens and to compare them with compounds which produce non-malignant hyperplasia of liver and bile-duct cells.

Identification of Intracellular Sources Responsible for Endogenous Reactive Oxygen Species Formation
The endogenous reactive oxygen species ("ROS") formation is associated with many pathologic states such as inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, brain and heart ischemic injuries, cancer, and aging. The purpose of this study was to investigate the endogenous sources for "ROS" formation in intact isolated rat hepatocytes, in particular, peroxisomal oxidases, monoamine oxidase, xanth...

متن کاملSynthesis of Some Spiro Indeno[1,2-b]pyrido[2,3-d]Pyrimidine-5,3′- Indolines as New Urease Inhibitors
New series of spiroindeno[1,2-b]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-5,3′-indolines as new urease inhibitors were synthesized by the catalytic procedure in high yield and short reaction time. In this method, biacidic carbon was prepared as a novel heterogeneous acid and was subsequently used as an efficient catalyst in this synthesis. The inhibitory activities of synthesized compounds were tested against Ja...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF SERUM AND PROTEIN SYNTHESIS INHIBITORS ON POLYMORPHONUCLEAR NEUTROPHIL APOPTOSIS
In this study the programmed cell death (apoptosis) of human neutrophilic granulocytes was investigated in the presence and absence of fetal calf serum (FCS), cycloheximide and actinomycin-D. The results show that when FCS is omitted from cultures, apart from a decrease in viability, the percentage of apoptotic cells and DNA fragmentation increases. Apoptosis is accelerated in serum withdra...
متن کاملKojic acid-derived tyrosinase inhibitors: synthesis and bioactivity
Tyrosinase is a key enzyme for melanin biosynthesis, catalyzing the oxidation of L-tyrosine to L-dopaquinone. The tyrosinase inhibition is an effective approach to control hyperpigmentation in human skin and enzymatic browning in fruits and vegetables. Kojic acid is a naturally-occurring tyrosinase inhibitor which has been clinically used to treat the hyperpigmentation of skin. However, kojic a...
